Weekly Update

March 14-18, 2011

Theme: This week the theme will be the letter ‘Ll, ll’. In Spanish ‘ll’ sounds close to the sound of  ‘j’ in English. ‘Ll’ is for:

 

La lluvia-rain

Lluvioso-rainy

Llorar-to cry

El llanto-cry (noun)

Llamar-to call

La llanta-tire

El pollito-chick

La llama-llama

Silla-chair

Llave-key

 

Reading Readiness Focus:

This week students will focus on the letter ‘Ll’. ‘Ll’ sounds in Spanish like the ‘j’ sounds in English.

 

  • M. Dora’s class will identify and match lower case to capital and isolate its sound.
  • M.Bertha’s class will be working on printing capital ‘Ll’ and lower case ‘ll’ in addition to the above.

Math:

  • Students will be counting, sorting and classifying keys.

 

Science and Nutrition:

We will talk about ‘lluvia’ (rain).

 

Books: Un Día Lluvioso, Y Seguía Lloviendo, Jugamos bajo la Lluvia, Tu Mamá es una Llama?
